Nottingham Eye

Nottingham Eye - Photo by ACDNottingham’s strap line seems to alternate between Proud and Ambitious. Having encountered the Nottingham Eye one evening (see photo) I must admit that the city is living up to the dual strap lines. Magnificent, standing at over 60 meters, it takes a brave soul to ride the eye. Luckily for me many have done so and shared their experiences on Flickr and the BBC website.  It is fantastic to see so much enthusiasm online for this wheel. As I write there are 722 photos posted on Flickr and a further 30+ on the BBC.

The Nottingham Eye is rolling now until the 2nd March 2008 – Find out more at http://www.nottinghameye.co.uk/

In response to an earlier comment regarding the posting of archive footage (Experiments with you tube video) I would suggest that the presence of the Nottingham Eye offers a fantastic opportunity for contemporary archivists and nostalgia buffs to create media archive for the next generation.
