Third Sector Media’s Weblog

I read the news today, Oh boy…

March 10, 2008 · 1 Comment

Third Sector Media have this month mostly been training. Last week we headed over to Derby to act as an “expert witness” for the East Midlands School for Social Entrepreneurs. A lively discussion ensued surrounding the reconciliation of personal motivation, commercial interests and social returns. This trinity of social enterprise has no easy answer, being inherently personal in its approach and the lack of prescribed methods for balancing the three drivers seemed to be a little problematic for the group. For us here at Third Sector Media this dilemma forms the base of our operations, finding the resolve will probably take us years but in the meantime we shall carry on helping VCO’s communicate.

We have also delivered half of a two day course in Marketing and Media in partnership with Human Recourses Network for Enable. It is staggering how long it takes to prepare for a two hour session. The training feedback as been positive so far and with the concluding session is this week so we will (as ever) keep you posted on how this goes.

This coming Friday (18th March 08) we will be at EMSSE’s Exploring Social Enterprise event at Newstead Community Centre. The event runs from 10am – 4pm and is a taster for anyone who would like to know more about setting up a Social Enterprise. During the morning we will be talking about our set up experiences and during the afternoon we will be about to chat with interested delegates about their plans and ambitions.

Slightly off topic, it was good to be in the news last week (Nottingham Evening Post 29th  February 2008)

WEB HELP OFFER TO CHARITY GROUPS

A Non-profit organisation is offering help to charities who want an internet presence.

Third Sector Media, based at the Partnership Council in Gregory Boulevard, Hyson Green, provides community and voluntary organisations with professional website design.

Previously, such organisations had to settle for second best when it came to their website,

Figures show visitors to charity websites and voluntary organisations are booming with people twice as likely to seek voluntary opportunities online.
